The weather has been iffy this weekend, a lot of potential for T-Storms, but I took a look at the forecast, and the weather, and figured I had a good 3+ hour window before any bad weather would appear. The weather today was in the lower 80s, with about 10-15 mph of wind out of the South Southwest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I decided to try a new spot this time, and launched from Little Island Park. This is a nice launch site, but I think it is probably impossible to use in the summer, due to crowds at the beach across the street. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Headed out to Little Island, and stayed pretty close to the shore to avoid the wind, about halfway up the island I came across a small meadow along the shore that was filled with small white flowers. It was pretty cool, and I got some enjoyable pictures. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Continuing along the shore, and I was originally planning on checking out the Western shore of Long Island, but I decided not to fight the wind and stayed on the Eastern side. After seeing nothing of interest, and noting that my time was running short, I headed across Sand Bay to the area around the Back Bay NWR Headquarters. While cruising along the shore, I noticed something strange in a small tree on the shoreline, it was a snake sunning itself in the branches, my daughter later identified it as a cottonmouth.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n
